
Hala Salem
Hala Salem is a dancer/choreographer/multidisciplinary artist/dance teacher/and workshop facilitator, after two years in professional dancers training Hala obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Dance Theatre. Her work often explores the intersection of tradition and modernity, delving into her cultural heritage and language through movement and text.
Hala has performed locally and internationally, collaborating with diverse artists to create innovative and cross-cultural performances.
"Parallel" with Rand Taha, Yusor Hamed (2018), “Araq” (2022), which Hala worked on as a director and choreographer.
In 2023 Hala collaborated with a number of theatre, dance, and cinema projects, both as a performer and choreographer:
• "Al-Ashiq’" by Nabil Azzar
• "Disturbed" by Hala Salem and Al-That, as part of the series: 'when I fell' curated by Samar Hadad king in Qattan Foundation.
• "Fabric of Freedom" by Sham Yusof, with Salwa Nakara, as part of the series: "Bethlehem Site-Specific Theatre Festival" produced by Al-Harah Theatre.
At the end of 2023 along with the storytelling center in Amsterdam Hala worked on her new long solo "Saffron" that premiered in Holland. Where she partnered with Lynn Adib who provided the music and Ghenwa Noiré providing animation and visuals.
In 2024, "Saffron" is still touring across Europe. Hala also works as a movement and dance instructor with different marginalized, As well as her work as a choreographer and dramaturge.
