SHADI SHBETA

Shadi Shbeta a Palestinian multidisciplinary artist born 1996 in the city of Tira, currently based in Jaffa. A graduate of Shenkar College with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Shbeta’s work delves into the complexities of social, political, and psychological realities, using abstract, expressive, and symbolic forms to challenge conventional frameworks. His art is a space where philosophical ideas about existence, identity, and the human condition unfold freely, unbound by traditional intellectual or logical constraints.

Deeply inspired by Sufi philosophy, Shbeta draws from its spiritual and contemplative essence to explore connections between the metaphysical and the tangible. Through surreal and symbolic imagery, his work reflects a process of dismantling and reimagining, allowing him to question, compare, and interpret the world from new perspectives. His artistic practice is rooted in continuous research, where art becomes not just an aesthetic endeavor but a means of critical reflection, communication, and documentation.

Shbeta is committed to preserving art as a free and independent space, untouched by the influence of industrialization, authoritarian ideologies, or societal norms. His work embodies a pursuit of authenticity, where creative expression serves as both a personal journey and a dialogue with broader cultural and existential questions.

He has held roles as a group leader and space assistant at Magasin III Museum for Contemporary Art in Jaffa and Stockholm, and as an artistic producer and co-founder of Ajak Space for Arab youth creators and artists. He also presented the Arab Art Students Exhibition at the Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm, Sweden. His work has been featured in group exhibitions such as Homeland at Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm, Re/Deconstruction with the Tishreen Association in Taybeh, Stranger in My Land at Al Reda Space in Nazareth, Confusion at Oasis of Peace Gallery, and the Ajak Exhibition at Ajak Space for Palestinian Creators. His solo exhibitions include Untitled at the Danish Embassy and Hic, his first major installation, at the Tishreen Association in Taybeh.

Shbeta’s artistic journey is a continuous exploration—a space where thought and form intertwine, and where art exists as both a question and an answer, constantly evolving with the shifting landscapes of life and identity.
