Yusor Hamed

Yusor Hamed is a versatile musician born in Tunis to a Gazan mother and a Karmi father, raised in Ramallah, West Bank. Growing up in a challenging environment that restricts freedom and movement deeply influenced their artistic expression. Yusor honed their skills at the Edward Said conservatory, where they learned to play the Qanun at the age of 7, while also becoming a self-taught guitarist and percussionist in the past 10 years.

As a singer, songwriter, composer, and music producer, Yusor draws inspiration from a diverse array of genres, including Folk, Sufi, Alternative rock, Electronic and experimental music. Since 2018, they have performed as an independent artist and collaborated with both local and international musicians, enriching their work with various perspectives.

In 2021, Yusor established “The Set” studio in Birzeit, a creative space that hosts short residencies for local artists, fostering collaboration and innovation. Their art often explores themes of gender, body, religion, and politics, creating a dialogue that resonates with listeners. With a background in visual arts from the International Art Academy of Palestine and a BA degree from KHIO University of Oslo, Yusor’s multifaceted approach to creativity culminates in a passionate commitment to working with women and expressing powerful narratives through music.
